This week the Global Hunger Index 2013 was published (full report can be accessed here).
The global hunger scores were calculated by looking at the percentage of the population that is undernourished, children younger than five who are underweight, and the percentage of children dying before the age of five.
From the concern website: "This year’s report shows that global hunger has declined since 1990, but not dramatically. World hunger still remains 'serious' with 19 countries suffering from levels of hunger that are either 'alarming' or 'seriously alarming'. Burundi, Eritrea and Comoros have the highest levels of hunger."
